Hemingway Special Instructions

All of my templates have a few requirements in order to work properly. Please take a look at this page in addition to following the directions below: General Template Install Instructions.

Hemingway, by default, comes with two additional stylesheets. One is a white style so that you have black text on a white background (opposed to the default white text on a black background) and the other is a user style that will allow you to override any of the default styles without having to muck around in the master stylesheet. Unfortunately, I couldn't have these automagically install with the rest of the templates, so a little manual work will be required on your end. I promise it isn't all that hard, so no worries!

In order to get those additional stylesheets installed as templates, just follow the following steps after you get Hemingway installed to your weblog:

  1. Make sure you uploaded the "hemingway" folder that is located within the "tpl" folder inside your download
  2. Login to your control panel and head over to the "Templates" tab
  3. Select the weblog that you previously installed Hemingway into and click on "New Template"
  4. On the "New Template Form" page, enter "white" for the name of the template
  5. Immediately below the name field, choose CSS Stylesheet for the "Template Type"
  6. Inside the "Default Template Data" section select "Use a template from your library"
  7. Once that is selected, use the dropdown to the immediate right of the radio button and choose "hemingway/white"
  8. Click "Submit" and your template is automagically created from that file
  9. Repeat steps 3 to 8 for the user_styles stylesheet, remembering to change all instances of "white" to "user_styles"

That's all there is to it! To activate either of the stylesheets, check the head section of the templates. There are a couple of EE comments that you need to remove to get them working.

One last note. The flickr imaged located in the bottom area of the theme are being pulled using the Flickr Tools plugin provided by Solspace. You MUST install this plugin before trying to use Hemingway, or else you'll be hit with an error when you view your site. Grab the plugin from there and enter a group ID (unfortunately it doesn't work for individual user IDs just yet) in order to show your own images. Alternately, you can change the code to pull images from your own EE based gallery. If you need help in doing that, feel free to ask!
